In the video above, Tonya Sargent, Vice President, Customer Support Enterprise Solutions, shares how she took a tumble that ultimately ended up saving her life.
What Tonya thought may have been a hematoma (a collection of blood inside the breast tissue) actually ended with a Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma diagnosis. At this stage, cancer is growing but is contained within the breast or the growth has only extended to nearby lymph nodes.
Noting that she is normally extremely disciplined when it comes to routinely scheduling her healthcare exams, Tonya shares that she missed a year, and the impact proved to be detrimental. However, the early detection of her breast cancer enabled Tonya to take measures to both treat and survive it.
Tonya cites her "faith, family and friends" as her support system throughout her breast cancer battle. She wants everyone to know that "Early detection saves lives!"
