Ayaan Huda
Design Engineer Intern | Georgia Tech
What skills are you developing through your internship? What excites you about working at Acuity Brands?
Project Management, Hybrid Work Balance & Technical Design Skills. I hope to learn about the product design process because I've always wondered how design decisions are made for new products. Being a design engineer really excites me. I get to apply what I've in school to products that have a meaningful impact on customers. I also enjoy the mix between computer work and hands-on work at the office which supports the hybrid work model.
Any hobbies, interests, or passions you’d like to share?
I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee and I like to keep up with the latest consumer technologies
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d love to visit Majorca, Spain!
Devin Raun
Design Engineer Intern | Georgia Tech
What skills are you developing through your internship? What excites you about working at Acuity Brands?
Design validation, manufacturing techniques, wiring, and fixture assembly processes. I am hoping to learn more about the entire design process and the beginning phases of new product design. I enjoy the flexibility and freedoms that Acuity Brands provides. It is nice to be able to come in to the office when needed and be able to wear what is comfortable for work. It is also great to be able to see the entire design process through for a project and gives a greater sense of ownership and contribution to the final product.
Any hobbies, interests, or passions you’d like to share?
I play for the Georgia Tech lacrosse team and love to travel and hike as well!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Switzerland! The landscape is amazing and it was my favorite place I visited while studying abroad. There is great hiking during the summer and skiing during the winter. I think the alps are a place I would want to spend more of my time in life.
Marissa Hall
Sales Intern | Rhodes College
What skills are you developing through your internship? What excites you about working at Acuity Brands?
Throughout this internship, I have been learning how to navigate tools to uncover potential leads to pass along to our sales reps. This has helped me further develop my organization, research, communication, and time management skills. I have enjoyed learning how these platforms operate and hope to continue exploring how I can better search for new projects and potential leads to offer to our sales reps. What excites me about working for Acuity Brands is the welcoming community and remote work environment. I was nervous coming in to start a new position, but everyone I have met has been extremely kind and helpful. It is also very exciting to have the privilege of working with so many important individuals within the company and receiving mentorship, training, and feedback from them. I also enjoy working remotely because I am given the flexibility to do my work where l wish.
Any hobbies, interests, or passions you’d like to share?
In my free time my hobbies primarily consist of playing volleyball, making arts and crafts, working out, watching movies, or hanging out with friends.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
If I could go anywhere in the world, I would like to travel to either Japan or Jamaica
