Shannon McWilliams
Sales Intern | University of Saint Thomas
What skills are you developing through your internship? What excites you about working at Acuity Brands?
I have already learned skills such as teamwork, communication, and composing well-written reports/emails. My overall goal is to learn more about outside sales and make more connections. Since having worked for a rep agency before Acuity Brands, I was excited to learn about the other side of the lighting business. Acuity Brands is able to provide this for me.
Any hobbies, interests, or passions you’d like to share?
I am a division 1 women's soccer player at the University of Saint Thomas.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would say New Zealand or Japan. Before the pandemic, I was actually supposed to study abroad in New Zealand for a month.
Manish Paudel
Application Development Intern | University of Houston Clear Lake
What skills are you developing through your internship? What excites you about working at Acuity Brands?
I am currently learning to communicate among teams, and use different industry tools for software development. I hope to be a better team player, learn effective collaboration and be a better programmer by the end of the internship. Acuity Brands gives you the flexibility to work from your comfort zones. Managers and senior leaders listen to your input, and Acuity Brands also lets us grow professionally and prepares us for the industry.
Any hobbies, interests, or passions you’d like to share?
My hobbies include playing tennis, playing soccer, and long drives.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Visiting Machu Picchu is on my bucket list!
Walker Carroll
Illumination Engineering Intern | University of Colorado at Boulder
What skills are you developing through your internship? What excites you about working at Acuity Brands?
I have been conducting research and have learned to use lighting equipment, set up LED boards, write a professional report, and interpret scholarly articles on lighting. Much more to come! I like my coworkers and the facility that I work in. I enjoy meeting with my manager and catching up on my progress.
Any hobbies, interests, or passions you’d like to share?
My hobbies are golf, hockey, skiing, biking, and hiking.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d love to visit Sweden or Spain!
