Tell us a little bit about yourself (work history/hobbies / fun facts)

I am from Puerto Rico. At an early age, I was so infatuated with playing tennis. I played juniors and received a full scholarship from the University of Puerto Rico. From that university, I received two degrees the first as a Land Surveyor and a second degree in Civil Engineering. I also love to travel, which is a true passion. I love to explore and experience different cultures around the world.

How has your experience as a Hispanic American been working in corporate America?

In 2014 I moved to the United States after accepting a role in the Leadership Program at Acuity Brands Lighting.  I was able to rotate and experience various roles that prepared me for my current role as a Product Support Specialist. I moved to the US by myself, leaving my entire family back home in Puerto Rico.  At the beginning of the transition, it was hard for me to adjust to a life away from my family, friends, and culture. Over time, I adapted to the US culture and I have been able to show my friends my Hispanic culture. It is a great feeling when you can share your culture with friends and coworkers, I add a little spice to every conversation.
