Four Innovative Lighting Solutions Selected for the 2022 IES Progress Report

ATLANTA, August 22, 2022 – Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE: AYI) announced today that four Acuity Brands lighting solutions were selected for the 2022 Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Progress Report, which showcases the year's most significant advancements in the art and science of lighting. Selections were made by an impartial committee that evaluated submissions based on uniqueness, innovation, and significance to the lighting industry.

2022 IES Progress Report winners include two A-Light™ family suspended luminaires, Gotham® EVO® downlight and cylinders with Care222® Technology, and the MARK Architectural Lighting™ Whisper with Care222 Technology:

Absorb I Suspended Luminaire from A-Light features vertical acoustic panels that showcases flanged profile design. Available in two and four-foot lengths, fixtures can be combined with a discreet joiner system hidden within the luminaire's felt for seamless designs. Continuous runs, squares or rectangles can be created using 90 or 180-degree angle joiners. Designers can choose various light distributions to achieve the desired direct or indirect illumination. The fixture’s direct lighting delivers reduced glare and indirect optics allow for efficient and controlled light. Unlit versions are also available, ideal for applications where more sound absorption is required while maintaining design consistency within a space. Thermoformed acoustic panels, available in four standard and 26 premium colors, are manufactured with recycled plastic bottles (PET) and 100% recyclable.

Relay Suspended Luminaire from A-Light highlights a direct/indirect pendant system with 90° and 120° angles, enabling designers to configure diverse geometric patterns with a seamlessly lit shape. High-performance TIR optics provide controlled and efficient light. The luminaire can be specified with direct or indirect illumination, or a combination of both. Direct lighting offers reduced glare continuous illumination throughout the fixture, including corners. Indirect lighting features a batwing distribution to highlight ceiling elements. Additional flexibility is available with a tunable white option or dim to warm, with a range from 2700K to 5000K, which can be configured with nLight® wireless lighting control solutions. Acoustic panels may be added to the fixture in four standard and 26 premium colors to complement or accentuate an aesthetic, while absorbing ambient sound in a space.

EVO 6" Downlight and Cylinders with Care222 Technology from Gotham feature a patented excimer lamp and patent-pending dosing electronics (“module”) that can provide a measured dosage of filtered 222nm far-UVC and are designed to help occupants feel safer in high-traffic areas such as classrooms, offices, waiting rooms, restaurants, and bathrooms. The EVO product line offers three luminaire solutions as part of its UV lighting portfolio: EVO Hybrid Solution, EVO UV-Only Solution, and EVO Visible Light-Only Solution. All EVO lighting solutions with Care222 technology are available in 6-inch downlights for new construction and remodel installations. Surface, pendant, and wall mounting options are available for the 6-inch cylinders. Utilizing batwing distribution and feathered edges, EVO luminaires provide even illumination on horizontal and vertical surfaces. With significant source regression, EVO cylinders and downlights emit light up to 2,000 lumens with CCTs ranging from 2700K to 4000K.

Whisper with Care222® Technology from MARK Architectural Lighting features a mercury-free far-UVC excimer lamp that contains a patented short pass filter for narrow band 222nm emission. Gently sloping side panels provide Whisper with depth and appealing angles. Whether applied in rows or individually, Whisper brightens grid ceilings in offices, schools and hospitals and other institutional settings with an artful, and simple look, while delivering up to 8500 lumens at a color quality of up to 90CRI. Available in 2X2 or 2X4 sizes to fit a variety of designs. Powered by an eldoLED® driver for smooth dimming flicker-free dimming to less than 1%.

"We are honored to be recognized by industry experts and peers for our lighting solutions," said Acuity Brands Lighting and Controls Senior Vice President, Amra Boucher. "The inclusion in the IES Progress Report helps showcase Acuity Brands advancements in our luminaire innovations and reflects our ability to continuously provide customized solutions for a variety of applications.”
