ATLANTA – August 16, 2021 – Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE: AYI) announced today that four Acuity Brands lighting solutions were selected for the 2021 Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Progress Report, which showcases the year's most significant developments in the art and science of lighting. Selections were made by an impartial committee that evaluated submissions based on uniqueness, innovation, and significance to the lighting industry.
2021 IES Progress Report winners include two Gotham® cylinder families, a Juno® canless downlight series, and a Luminis® family of outdoor luminaires:
EVO® and Incito™ 2” Tilt and Rotate Cylinders from Gotham let you convey a single visual idea across various applications. Multiple mounting options translate to greater control over where light is desired. Adjustable pendant and surface mount cylinders tilt up to 90° with 365° head rotation, and adjustable wall mount cylinders tilt up to +50° and down to -20° with +/-45° left/right rotation from vertical. Cylinders feature 50° cutoff to source and source image. EVO cylinders offer general illumination with batwing distribution with feathered edges to provide even illumination on horizontal and vertical surfaces. Incito cylinders offer high center-beam distributions that produce sharp contrast with crisp highlights and deep shadows.
Incito™ 4” LED Direct-Indirect Wall Mount Cylinder from Gotham represents the first direct-indirect luminaire in the Incito™ family. Combined with new accessory options, the line facilitates grazing, creating contrast, and bringing depth to vertical surfaces to achieve desired lighting designs. This new luminaire is designed for illuminating interior or exterior columns, and tall walls in spaces such as stadium concourses, transportation hubs, courtyards, lobbies, or restaurants. Uplight and downlight can be individually controlled for fully independent lumen outputs and beam distributions. Designers also have the flexibility to customize the lighting aesthetic with a variety of colors and accessories meant to improve the quality of light.
Podz™ Series Canless Downlights from Juno take the form of a traditional 4", 5", or 6" downlight from below the ceiling. Above the ceiling these fixtures are far from traditional with the fixture’s minimalist form factor and technologically advanced light engine. Flexible and simple to use, the Podz Series offers direct control of the lighting in a space with three lumen packages (700L, 1000L, 1200L) and five switchable white LED color temperatures (27K, 30K, 35K, 40K, 50K) to choose from on the downlight. The cutting-edge color mixing technology delivers white light engineered to stay directly on the black body curve. A quick connect electrical attachment allows for easy electrical connection of the trim module. The canless downlight design measures less than 3” tall and can install in almost any residential or commercial application.
Scena family of exterior luminaires from Luminis are elegant surface mount fixtures and bollards designed to withstand the rigors of urban exteriors and public spaces. The Scena family gives specifiers the ability to mix and match a variety of models to satisfy their requirements. Round or square, designers can select a bollard best suited to its surroundings, then carry the aesthetic with complementary surface mount fixtures to nearby buildings. The luminaires are ideally suited for commercial applications, schools, office buildings, or outdoor public spaces. Surface mount luminaires are ADA compliant, and can be specified in round, with 8.5" and 11" diameters, or an 8.5” square. Bollards feature an 9.5” luminaire, in round or square, with a 24” or 39” height.
