Distech Controls Announces Updates to Global Leadership Team

MONTREAL – February 7 – Distech Controls®, an innovation leader connecting people with intelligent building solutions, announced today key recent organizational changes to further strengthen their leadership team.

The organization is pleased to announce that Guylaine Ruel joined as Vice President, Product Development where she will lead program management for the global R&D team. With extensive experience in project and program management, Ruel had served as Director of R&D at Distech Controls for over 4 years before most recently holding leadership roles at Desjardins Technologies Group, Inc. and Intact Financial Corporation

Steve Lupien, Vice President, Building Automation Technology, will now lead the organization’s Advanced Development. Lupien has worked with Distech Controls for over 12 years and has strong experience in industrial automation combined with extensive knowledge in hardware development, firmware, software, and artificial intelligence. In addition, he will continue to work with the Acuity Brands team to integrate Bluetooth® technology, geolocation services, and nLIGHT® control systems.

Lauren Scott has been promoted to the role of Vice President of Marketing and Sustainability of Acuity Brands’ Intelligent Spaces Group (ISG). Having joined Distech Controls in 2013, Scott previously served as Director of Marketing. Coupled with her 13 years of marketing and communications experience, her strong commitment to Acuity Brands' EarthLIGHT mission and involvement in leading environmental organizations positions her to best elevate the organization’s smarter, safer, greener messaging. She now reports directly to Peter Han, President of ISG, while continuing as a member of the Distech Controls leadership team.

With Scott’s promotion, Christopher Bender has been appointed to the role of Director of Marketing, Global for Distech Controls. Bender joins the organization from Aldes North America, where he served as Marketing Director for 6 years, as well as business line manager for their heat and energy recovery ventilation product lines. Prior to Aldes, he held leadership roles in Marketing and Product Management over the past 20 years, in multiple industries including HVAC and LED lighting.

Jean-Philippe Dubuc has been appointed to the role of Director of Finance, Global for Distech Controls. Having joined the organization in 2020, Dubuc brings 20 years of experience in finance and accounting in various industries and more than 15 years of management. In his new role, Dubuc will globally lead the Distech Controls’ finance and accounting teams

Olivier Fillot has been promoted to Vice President, Sales, Europe. Formerly Vice President of Sales for France and the UK, all European countries have been added to his leadership responsibilities. With more than 30 years of sales experience in the building automation field, including nine years with Distech Controls, Fillot is a driving force for sales in Europe.

In addition, Distech Controls has appointed Hubert Fritsch as Deputy Managing Director, Europe. This responsibility will be added to his current role of Customer Experience Director. Having joined Distech Controls in 2016, Fritsch brings more than 25 years in marketing and product management in companies supplying services and equipment for electrical distribution and building control.
