The Maybourne Riviera (formerly the Vista Palace) is a luxury, 5-star hotel opened in the 1950s. It is renowned for its cliff-top location with dizzying views over the bay of Monaco.
Why Distech Controls technology?
The connected ECLYPSE system was chosen when renovating the hotel to ensure that the technology can be updated over time to meet the requirements of current and future guests.
There are so many advantages to this system and it works really well in a luxury hotel setting. Firstly, the system is quick and easy to install with its daisy-chain of ECY-PTU controllers. There is a WiFi antenna that connects to each controller for simple maintenance without disturbing guests in their suites.
The Bluetooth multi-sensors are also a nice touch, helping detect motion for the myPersonify app. As well as the multi-sensors, each suite has inter-communicating EC-Smart-Vue interfaces. They were given a makeover especially for this project. Owing to the hotel’s prestige, the owner wanted any products that were visible to have a luxurious look. This is why each suite is fitted with an EC-Smart-Vue interface with its own customized golden cover. The client really appreciated being able to match these interfaces with the light switches.
The ECLYPSE system has another advantage that makes all the difference – it has different types of controllers for different purposes. We have ECLYPSE terminal unit controllers (ECY-PTUs) handling comfort levels inside the hotel rooms using feedback from Bluetooth multi-sensors and the EC-Smart-Vue interfaces while ECLYPSE modular connected controllers (ECY-S1000s) focus on controlling heating and air conditioning, kitchen ventilation and the communal areas more broadly.
Last but not least, the EC-Net 4 Supervisor software and all of the data associated with it are the sole property of the hotel owner, thus satisfying the requirements for confidentiality and independence that a hotel of this standing would have.
