Nikken Sekkei Hokkaido HQ, Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan

Located in the vibrant city of Sapporo in Hokkaido, this project represents a thoughtful approach to sustainable design and efficient building performance. The facility was envisioned as a forward-looking workplace where technology, comfort and environmental responsibility come together to support Japan’s Zero Energy Building goals.
Why Distech Controls Technology?
- Open and interoperable platform
- Edge to cloud architecture
- Flexibility for Japan ZEB standards
- Modern dashboards
- Unified systems addressing fragmentation
- Optimisation strategies supporting ZEB targets
- Importance of Network Corporation’s role
Distech Controls technology was selected because its open and interoperable platform enabled smooth integration with the third-party systems required for ZEB verification.
The Eclypse edge-to-cloud architecture supported local processing, detailed data acquisition and secure connectivity, all essential for precise energy tracking. The system offered the flexibility needed to implement Japan specific control strategies, including demand response logic and targeted energy saving sequences.
Modern and intuitive dashboards empowered teams with clear visibility into energy performance and indoor comfort conditions.
The unified system resolved challenges related to fragmented subsystems by bringing HVAC, lighting and energy meters together into one coherent BMS. Advanced optimisation strategies helped the facility progress toward its ZEB performance targets with confidence.
The project also benefited from the strong expertise of Network Corporation, whose engineering capabilities ensured a smooth deployment and long-term reliability.
