The Lancaster City Government is responsible for governing the City of Lancaster in Pennsylvania, USA, and provides a range of services and facilities to the city's residents, including public safety, public works, recreation, and cultural programs. With a population of approximately 59,000 people as of the 2020 census, Lancaster City is the eighth-largest city in Pennsylvania in terms of population. However, the city's land area is relatively small at 7.4 square miles (19.2 square km), making it one of the smaller cities in Pennsylvania by land area. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that Lancaster City's population has grown over time. The city owns over 60 buildings, including government offices, police and fire stations, community centers, and other public facilities.
Why Distech Controls?
Over the past two decades, several Lancaster City government offices, police and fire stations, community centers, and other public facilities have installed Distech Controls BACnet MS/TP technology. As BAS upgrades are required, the technology is being gradually moved from BACnet MS/TP to BACnet/IP with the goal of converting the Lancaster City buildings into Smart Buildings, which can be managed by one platform over one cable while communicating to multiple devices.
