Nestled on 90 tree-lined acres in the heart of Lancaster County, Homestead Villages' mission is to enhance independence and dignity and create a compassionate community. Homestead Village has provided enhanced senior living options as a Life Plan Community since 1986.
The Stauffer Spring House Bachmann complex, including the barn, the pool house, and the main structure of Homestead are all part of this retirement community complex. A new building will soon be added, and work on it is expected to begin in 2024.
Why Distech Controls Technology?
Distech Controls solutions were used in this project to control HVAC, access controls, CCTVs, and lighting. The goal was to convert Homestead into a campus of “Smart Buildings” while using one platform to manage the operations, equipment, APIs, and devices. Distech Controls ECLYPSE BACnet/IP product line was the best solution to facilitate future integration requirements while maintaining reliable and efficient operation.
Distech Controls Solutions Installed:
For optimal energy efficiency, Distech Controls ECY-303 and ECY-TU203 controllers were used. Distech Controls space sensors were also used to provide space comfort throughout the retirement campus including the common areas, activity rooms, dining halls, and clubhouses throughout multiple buildings.
Dynatech relied on Distech Controls and Triduim Niagara solutions to provide access control to approximately 100 doors that were either keypad entries with card access or strictly card access. This helped to monitor staff activities but also provided a secure way to monitor doors in the Alzheimer's unit and a safe way for family members to enter the building to visit their loved ones.
The Tridium Niagara platform was also used to integrate security cameras and lighting control into the building automation system.
