The Arena Porte de la Chapelle is a flagship cultural and sports centre in the north of Paris. The architectural design of this 9,000 m² structure stands out for its eco-design: 80% of the surfaces are planted with vegetation, the façade is made of recyclable aluminium, and the majority of the design is based on wood and other bio-sourced materials... Opening in 2023, the Arena is the home of the Paris Basketball Club. During the summer 2024 sporting events, the Porte de la Chapelle Arena will host the badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, para-badminton and para-taekwondo events.
Why Distech Controls solutions?
Our ECLYPSE solution for plant rooms has been deployed at the Arena to ensure precise energy management and promote energy savings. This solution, based on ECY-S1000 connected modular controllers, can be used to control the air handling units and the ventilation of the large hall according to more than a dozen scenarios, each relating to a particular sport. For example, during the Olympic events, the "badminton" mode will reduce the air flow and speed so as not to disrupt the matches. ECLYPSE controllers will also play a key role in managing temperature, air quality and acoustics during these events.
In addition to the Olympic events, the Arena hosts many other sporting and cultural events, some of which do not require the entire seating area to be opened. If the upper tier of bleachers is not required, then that tier will be closed to avoid unnecessary ventilation. In this way, the ECLYPSE solution enables precise zone management with compartmentalisation, creating a timetable that interfaces directly with the annual events schedule.
Finally, the corridors and boxes are equipped with Allure Uniwave remote controls to ensure maximum comfort for the artists and sportsmen and women. These remote controls caught the eye of the end customer, not only because of their precision, but also because of their innovative and meticulous design.
