Ever hear the phrase, “a cobbler’s children have no shoes”? Well, that’s not the case for American Energy Management (AEM), a Platinum level system integrator with Distech Controls who recently made the move to a new state-of-the-art facility outside of Boston, MA.
To continue fueling growth for a team that has grown both organically and through a recent acquisition of Milton-based Gwynn Systems, AEM sought out a space that fit their culture.
Their building features a 50-seat conference center that will allow them to host customer training events (post Pandemic) as well as a custom-built software lab that allows them to stage BAS projects in-house as part of their quality assurance process.
While the building was plush with amenities including a fitness center and cafeteria, the technology was overdue for an upgrade, so they fell back to what they do best and installed the latest technology from Distech Controls.
AEM installed Distech Controls BACnet IP controllers throughout the space as well as BLE sensors to allow the use of Distech Controls myPERSONIFY mobile app which allows occupants to adjust lights, temperature, and shades via smartphone. They also took advantage of CO2 monitoring, MERV filters, a custom sequence for outdoor air flushes, and Bipolar Ionization technology to help safeguard their team from COVID. The technology that went into the space can easily be monitored and viewed through the 3D renderings the AEM Team created using Distech’s ENVISION software.

Why Distech Controls Technology?
The building had legacy JCI controllers that didn’t give the tenant local access or graphical data. They lacked the ability to create schedules, control CO2 levels, didn’t have safeguards like Merv filers, Bipolar Ionization against Covid, or the ability to remotely control their setpoints.
