Acuity Brands Conducting Webinar on Design Criteria for UV Light Disinfection Safety

Continuing education webinar provides overview of safety protocols and design techniques that enable a holistic approach to designing a UV light disinfection system.

ATLANTA – February 9, 2021 -- Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE: AYI) announced today it’s conducting a continuing education webinar entitled Design Criteria for UV Light Disinfection Safety (AB2101) that will provide an overview of safety protocols necessary for the various UV technologies available today. The webinar will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM EDT.

“Decades of research and history demonstrate that UV light is effective at inactivating pathogens in the air and on nonporous surfaces, but UV light must be applied carefully to balance safety with pathogen reduction,” said Gary Trott, Vice President of Technology Commercialization, Acuity Brands Lighting. “This webinar will investigate the safety protocols and design techniques that enable a holistic approach to designing a UV light disinfection system.”

Dr. David Sliney will kick off the webinar by discussing the general safety concerns of UV light and how to mitigate the risks, as well as how UV light disinfection can control pathogens in a space.  Sliney holds a PhD in biophysics and medical physics from University College London (Institute of Ophthalmology), an MS in physics and radiological health from Emory University, and a BS in physics from Virginia Tech.

This webinar has been registered with AIA for continuing education credits. To register, please visit Webinar Registration.  The webinar will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM EDT.
