Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals, Inc is a biotech that discovers and develops medicines that
treat intractable diseases through gene silencing. Their expansion in San Diego, CA
brought about a new R&D facility spanning 151,279 sq. ft. The space includes amenities
such as a histology, chemistry, BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, and office space.
Why Distech Controls?
Climatec San Diego worked with Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals during construction and
operation of the facility to provide, install, and service the latest Building Automation
Systems (BAS) and networking technology. The Distech Controls BACnet IP BAS installed
utilizes the Eclypse line of IP controllers. This allows for efficient management of
operating costs and maintenance, with an easy-to-use platform that quickly runs analytics
and operation reports.
In addition to setting up an Operation Technology network with Optigo Edge network
switches, Climatec seamlessly integrated Visual BACnet software for efficient network
troubleshooting. This integration extended beyond controlling various complex mechanical
systems, such as central plant equipment and lab exhaust fans, and included various third-party systems. This contained lab equipment such as freezers and refrigerators, medical
gas systems, plumbing equipment, electrical switchgear, lighting controls, and a Phoenix
lab control system. The new technology and services Climatec provided were essential for
the functionality of the facility.
