LED Retrofits are a practical and popular way to update fluorescent lighting in a building and take advantage of the life and efficiency of modern LED technology. However, changing the normal lighting in a public or commercial space must still preserve the Life Safety requirements in place for emergency egress lighting. If the fixtures being upgraded to LED are equipped with emergency ballasts intended to operate the installed fluorescent lamps, then consideration must be given regarding the type of LED retrofit solution being installed in order to preserve the required emergency egress lighting.
