A-Light Introduces Lean Sustainable Luminaire

Acoustic lay-in transforms tiled ceilings with significantly reduced environmental impact from design to shipping

Oceanside, CA, September 28, 2022 – A-Light (www.alights.com), an established best-in-class manufacturer of specification-grade interior lighting solutions, is pleased to announce the introduction of its Lean lay-in fixture. Lean transforms tiled ceilings into something more architecturally impactful, providing a sustainable solution to ambient noise reduction.

Lean is a 2’ x 2’ acoustic lay-in luminaire that becomes part of an architectural ceiling tile while increasing sound absorption across ceiling planes. A Lambertian direct distribution delivers a soft, even illumination that suppresses glare and shadows. Designers can use the multi-functional fixture to turn project tiles into dynamic designs in applications such as office spaces.

The luminaire is a direct response to challenges of a modern office refurbishment, where the removal of grid tiles creates an unfinished ceiling look. This creates reflected sound and negatively impacts acoustics. Lean lay-in tiles effectively integrate with the ceiling to improve overall noise levels.

With its wedge shape and felt-like acoustic panels available in 30 colors, Lean brings a unique design element, as well as spatial depth to traditional grid ceilings. Designers can augment a grid ceiling with an individual 2’ x 2’ fixture and play with its orientation. Lean can be also placed back-to-back, side-to-side, or in clusters of multiple fixtures, to create an impactful ceiling.

Sustainability is at the forefront of Lean’s design. All unnecessary components have been stripped away, and non-recyclable materials have been reduced. The acoustic panels in Lean contain 40% recycled PET bottles that keep more plastic waste out of landfills and oceans. And Lean also features materials that contain low volatile organic compounds, which are better for the environment as well as humans.

Lean is Declare label listed, which enhances transparency and simplifies material tracking. The Declare label identifies Lean’s components, including red list-free, non-harmful chemicals such as the electrical wiring.

Shipping with only three collapsible components, Lean is 80% lighter than a typical 2’ x 2’ fixture. It is estimated that the overall shipping impact is reduced by as much as 88%.

Lean lay-in tiles are easy to install. And integration with existing ceiling tiles means reduced overall waste while further promoting sustainability.

The luminaires may be fully integrated with any nLight® AIR or nLight® Wired network control system using a variety of nLight® controls and sensors.

Lean luminaires are assembled in America and comply with the Buy America(n) Act (BAA) government procurement requirements under FAR, DFARS, and DOT.
