This program is geared towards individuals new to the lighting industry, or people who desire refresher course in lighting at a basic level. ​

Description: ​

This program is a “crash course” in lighting concepts. Attendees will learn about: light

sources, the evolution in technology, lighting terminology, photometry and luminaire

classifications. ​

  • Articulate how light sources have evolved and the benefits of current technology ​
  • Differentiate luminaire classifications​

Description

This program is an introductory course taught through interactive, hands-on labs, which cover the basics of electricity, lighting controls and dimming concepts, and stand-alone lighting control solutions using Sensor Switch® products. This course also covers basic networking topics, energy codes, wired and wireless technologies, and networked lighting control solutions using the nLight®platform.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss basic electrical terminology, power distribution and common components in an electrical circuit
  • Recognize common lighting control strategies and energy code requirements
  • Describe different dimming technologies
  • Describe basic programming procedures for stand-alone
  • Sensor Switch solutions
  • Define basic networking terminology
  • Select appropriate nLight products for common applications
  • Program locally networked nLight solutions
  • Recall benefits of a networked lighting control solution

Course Fee

$1,850 USD (This course fee covers materials used in this hands-on class.  $1,250 is refundable once hardware is returned in good working order following the Virtual Instructor-Led Training)

During this program, students will participate in an interactive approach to real world lighting and controls applications for interior and exterior spaces. Industry experts will provide details on key products and how to utilize those products in everyday applications. 

 ​Students will be actively involved in selecting and recommending lighting and controls solutions based on real-life scenarios and plans.

Agency, Electrical Contractor, Technical Support, Field Service, Facility Maintenance and Controls Specialist Personnel tasked with installation, maintenance and support

Description

In this hands-on class, students will acquire the skills and supporting knowledge to install, program, and operate an nLight® system. Topics include: functional operation and installation best practices for nLight and nLight AIR.

Learning Objectives

• Discuss best practices for installation and troubleshooting of an nLight system
• Program an nLight system using available software platforms including nConfig™, CLAIRITY™ Pro, and SensorView
• Use programming methods to implement controls strategies while meeting basic energy codes and sequences of operation
