Representation Matters: Celebrating Rafael Perez Gonzalez

September 13, 2021 Traci Holland

Rafael Perez Gonzalez, Regional Sales Vice President, Mexico & Latin America (LATAM) has been with Acuity for over 10 years, beginning his career with Holophane ™. His favorite thing about his job is meeting people around the world, influencing specifications, and seeing his ideas for projects come to life. As a leader, he knows the importance of setting a good example and prefers a manager who motivates others to do better and become better individuals overall; personally, and professionally.

When you live in Puerto Rico, every day is a celebration of Hispanic Heritage! Rafael has had the chance to live in the U.S. as well. Although he feels that in Puerto Rico, they are bonded by their Spanish language (his native language). He is amazed about how much he learned about the Hispanic culture when he was in the US Army. He loves to celebrate uniqueness, and at the end of the day, he believes we are all different and beautiful people.

When he’s not at work, you will likely find Rafael on the beach, boating, golfing or working out. You might also catch him dancing, as it’s his hidden talent. He was an amateur dancer during his college days! For Rafael, the perfect day is a sunny day on the boat with his family and friends – don’t forget the mojitos!

During the pandemic, it’s obvious that everyone had to adjust, personally and professionally. For Rafael, although he misses the personal contact with peers and customers, he realized just how efficiently we could operate in a remote setting. Given his ability to adapt, it only makes sense that his favorite quote is, “If you keep doing what you are doing, you will keep getting what you are getting.”
