Gotham Introduces Care222® Technology in EVO® Downlights and Cylinders

New solutions available to reduce active pathogen loads** without compromising visible light

Atlanta – March 1, 2022 - Gotham, an established innovator and manufacturer of architectural downlighting, announces the introduction of EVO® downlights and cylinder lighting solutions incorporating Care222® disinfection* technology. When installed and used in accordance with safety guidelines, Care222 technology can inactivate viruses and kill bacteria** in occupied and unoccupied spaces.

EVO lighting solutions with Care222® technology feature a patented excimer lamp and patent-pending  dosing electronics (“module”) that can provide a measured dosage of filtered 222nm far-UVC.  When used properly, the 222nm wavelength emitted from the Care222 lamp inactivates viruses and bacteria at energy levels that do not penetrate living tissue in skin or beyond the tear layer in eyes, allowing spaces in which the lamps are used to remain occupied during use.

The EVO product line offers three luminaire solutions as part of its UV lighting portfolio

  • EVO® UV-Only Solution incorporates the Care222 technology without visible light.
  • EVO® Hybrid Solution integrates visible light and the Care222 technology in the same fixture without compromising visually comfortable lighting.
  • EVO® Visible Light-Only Solution emits visible light up to 2,000 lumens (with no Care222 technology incorporated) and is intended to aesthetically match the other two solutions in a space.

EVO® luminaires with Care222® disinfection technology is designed to help occupants feel safer in high-traffic areas such as classrooms, offices, waiting rooms, restaurants, and bathrooms. All EVO® lighting solutions with Care222® technology are available in 6-inch downlights for new construction and remodel installations. Surface, pendant, and wall mounting options are available for the 6-inch cylinders.

Utilizing batwing distribution and feathered edges, EVO® luminaires provide even illumination on horizontal and vertical surfaces. With significant source regression, EVO cylinders and downlights emit light up to 2,000 lumens with CCTs ranging from 2700K to 4000K. The luminaires are available with semi-specular, matte diffused, and specular reflector finishes for a unique look.

Specifiers can choose from a range of multiple control options, including nLight® wired or wireless lighting controls.
