Lucid’s BuildingOS Facilities Connects the Dots for Owners & Operators

Building efficiency has always been a multibillion-dollar opportunity and a common focus for colleges, cities, building owners and others who operate commercial buildings. The hard part has been consistently capturing and harnessing the data to unlock better decision-making and performance. With the proliferation of distributed energy generation assets; complicated rate structures; and an avalanche of IoT and building software solutions, the task of creating a unified view across a portfolio remains a challenge today.

The team also learned that facilities face additional challenges. Facility and operations managers are often tasked with condition assessments, maintenance choices and procurement decisions that depend on comprehending the total cost of ownership (TCO). With so many disparate systems operating on different sites and systems, building operators need visibility into their workforce management and asset performance management systems in context of other asset-related data.

Lucid developed the BuildingOS platform with these challenges in mind. The newest enhancement, BuildingOS Facilities, centralizes critical assets and work order information from multiple systems. And because the solution is based on end-user specifications, BuildingOS Facilities allows users to integrate with real-time system and cost data for a true, unified view of asset performance across a building portfolio.

For example, an operations manager could leverage BuildingOS Facilities to analyze actual equipment performance against expectations. Looking at these figures in conjunction with maintenance records will yield data to evaluate maintenance programs and asset replacement strategies to ascertain a true TCO. Operators can compare these aspects across entire building portfolios to make more informed and proactive decisions about lighting, HVAC, distributed generation and other systems.

What do building operators gain from implementing Lucid’s BuildingOS?

  1. Unified, aggregate view of all building performance data in one platform
  2. Integrated energy usage, work order data and asset data

“Lucid has been instrumental in the City of Orlando’s ability to understand the unique types of data necessary to illustrate our total cost of ownership for city facilities,” said Ian Lahiff, Energy Project Manager, City of Orlando. “As we move toward Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s goal of producing all municipal energy from renewable resources by 2030, it’s critical we accurately account for inventory and share this information to engage building occupants and residents.”
