The Manufacturing Institute Celebrates Lighting Industry Leader, Yulia Tyukhova

March 3, 2017

Next Wednesday is International Women’s Day, and we thought it was the right time to share the great news about Yulia Tyukhova, PhD and Engineering Technologist, who was selected as an Emerging Leader by The Manufacturing Institute in its Science, Technology, Engineering, and Production (STEP) Ahead Initiative. STEP celebrates women in the manufacturing industry from the factory floor to the C-suite who make a difference in the industry through advocacy, mentorship, engagement, promotion and leadership.

Of her career in the lighting industry, Yulia’s colleague Craig Marquardt said, “Her contributions to the industry are evident in her involvement in industry associations, her work as a reviewer of scientific journal papers and as a mentor, as well as her many speaking engagements and awards.” He also adds that she “continuously searches for ways to apply state-of-the-art research to meet industry needs.”

Since 2012, Yulia has mentored future lighting professionals on the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) committee at the IES Annual Conference. She also shares her passion for lighting through her presentations and demonstrations to students during open house events at the University of Nebraska.

Yulia’s contributions also go far beyond IES. She’s also involved in the International Commission on Illumination, and she has spoken at the U.S. Department of Energy Solid-State Lighting Technology Development Workshop. She has also been the recipient of the Robert J. Besal Fund Scholarship, the Bellovin Award, the American Association of University Women Fellowship and two IES Young Professionals Scholarships.

She is highly deserving of this award, and we’re so proud of her accomplishments in lighting engineering. Her scientific findings will directly affect how we as a company proceed with future R&D initiatives, product launches and marketing campaigns. With Yulia’s help, we’ll continue to produce innovative product designs that meet and exceed our customer’s needs. Bravo, Yulia!
